Summer is the perfect time to engage with teachers and classmates in studies that often don’t fit into the busy school year. Whether you are a writer or mathematician, scientist or historian, CDS has something for you! We are excited to offer two dedicated academic camps for each grade this summer. These week-long camps are designed to provide a hands-on and focused sneak peak into the coming school year, though specific content covered will be unique to the summer session.

REGISTER HERE. You will be redirected to UltraCamp, our online camp management website. There, you can create an account and login to make reservations based on availability of the current camp sessions and also make camp payments. We have identified three outside vendors to partner with us during the week of August 20-24, when summer camp will not be available for Lower and Middle School:

Want to replace math fear with math fun? Join Math Wizards! Math Wizards will give rising first and second graders a jump start on the math they will encounter in the fall and help spark an interest in math that will last a lifetime. Through exploration, games, and exercises, students will prepare for the next grade level while uncovering the secrets to making necessary connections for counting and grouping numbers.

Do you have a rising first- or second-grader who loves science? Are they ready to see what science is going to be all about in the next grade? Mr. Alex invites you to dive into some of the early ideas that will be covered in first and second grade. Students will explore their senses, discuss the scientific method, and develop their own science journals to keep track of their work. Your student will be interested, intrigued, and inspired about science when they enter first and second grade!

Session IV: July 9 – July 13

AM Camps

[expand title=”Creative Writing (Rising 3rd-4th graders)”]

This is a writing camp that focuses on reviewing the fundamentals of writing mechanics, grammar, and editing, in addition to some reading comprehension and research projects. Each day, we’ll “visit” a different country to learn about its main cities and sights, its cultural icons like artists and famous citizens, and the cultural experiences that take place there. Daily activities will include more than just writing: we might cook, paint, draw, take field trips in the neighborhood, and more.
